  • Pain that worsens with pressure or chewing: Indicates potential issues with the tooth structure or nerves.
  • Jaw pain or stiffness: Can be a sign of an infection or other dental complications.

  • Gum disease symptoms: Includes discolouration, bleeding, or a bad odour that needs prompt evaluation.

The Treatment Plan

Tooth removal may be necessary for various reasons, such as baby teeth not exfoliating, orthodontic needs, or pain and infection. Here’s what to expect:

Looking for Solutions

Before proceeding, we’ll assess your situation to explore options that may relieve pain and save your tooth. Our goal is to keep you healthy, pain-free, and preserve your natural teeth whenever possible.

The Removal Process

The procedure typically involves local anaesthesia to numb the area, with sedation available if needed. Using minimally invasive techniques, we ensure a gentle and comfortable experience for a faster recovery.

Feeling Better

You’ll receive detailed aftercare instructions for healing, along with follow-up options to address any concerns. Our focus is on your comfort and recovery. Feel confident knowing you’re in expert hands throughout the process!

Cost of a Dental Extraction in Waterdown

The cost of dental extractions varies depending on your specific needs and whether you have insurance.

With insurance, out-of-pocket costs typically range from $100 to $200+. Without insurance, the cost is usually between $200 and $600+ per tooth, depending on the complexity of the procedure.

Accurate quotes require an in-person exam, as treatment plans are tailored to your needs. Here’s a breakdown of the two main categories of dental extractions:

Simple Tooth Extraction

This involves removing visible teeth using local anaesthesia. It’s typically less complex and more affordable.

Surgical Tooth Extraction

More complex, this procedure is needed for teeth that are not fully visible or have broken off at the gum line. It requires precision and expertise, resulting in higher costs.

We’re happy to provide a detailed estimate to submit to your insurance provider or to help you understand your out-of-pocket costs. Let us guide you to the right solution for your needs!

to schedule an initial consultation & exam.

Your consultation will include an examination of everything from your teeth, gums and soft tissues to the shape and condition of your bite. Generally, we want to see how your whole mouth looks and functions. Before we plan your treatment we want to know everything about the health and aesthetic of your smile, and, most importantly, what you want to achieve so we can help you get there.

Frequently Asked Questions

Not necessarily—wisdom teeth only need removal if they are impacted or cause issues with your jaw or other teeth.

Modern dentistry prioritizes your comfort, using advanced tools and techniques to minimize discomfort and trauma. We also provide aftercare instructions to ensure a smooth and speedy recovery.

You can eat soft foods about an hour after the procedure, once the gauze sponges are removed. Avoid hot foods, straws, and anything hard for the first 24 hours.

We’ll provide tailored aftercare instructions, but general tips include:

  • Avoid spitting, rinsing, straws, smoking, and touching the site for the first 24 hours.
  • Refrain from hot foods and drinks.
  • Avoid aspirin, as it can affect blood clotting.
  • Limit physical activities for a couple of days.
  • Most people feel minimal discomfort within a few days, but full recovery typically takes around two weeks. Resting for 3–4 days after the procedure helps ensure proper healing and reduces complications.

My brother and I go here for our routine visits. Dr. J is very kind and gentle. Even when we had scarier things, like to fix a broken tooth or have our baby teeth removed.

I was scared of going back to the dentist after not going for a few years. I had poor experiences as a child and was fearful of the anticipated feedback I would receive. The team at Centreville Dental instantly reassured me that being there was step 1 in getting back on track with my oral health. Quickly I realized there were zero judgements, my anxiety started to fade away, and I was looking forward to my routine visits. I don’t have perfect teeth but the team makes me feel great about my smile every time I was there. I now go with my two oldest children and the staff are happy to watch them both while I have my own appointments. They have always been able to accommodate the time of day that works best for me and my kids enjoy going there. I have done a complete 180 in terms of my opinion of dentists and it is completely due to Centreville Dental. I never thought I would be here and I’m so thankful for their team!

If I could give 6 stars I would. The entire team here is FANTASTIC. The ladies in the front desk, especially Michelle, are the most kind-hearted and warm-spirited individuals I've ever experience in a medical field. They're personable and remember you. Dr. Jayde is also fantastic, she's calm, extremely focused, and very friendly (and managed to find my 4th root nerve, saving me a trip to the specialist.) It's one thing to have great dental work, it's another to leave feeling happy. Thanks ladies!

Centreville dentist has always been a kind, caring and understanding office. I suffer from dental anxiety and this clinic always is so kind, caring, knowledgeable with my background, and very understanding. I have been coming here since it was run by Dr. despond and I will admit I was very nervous about him retiring, but I can say without a doubt I will never change from this office. Thank you for always being so great with my family and I, and we thank you for being such a great dentist team.
